Control

Control refers to the process of obtaining timely information on deviations from performance standards, determining the causes of the deviations, and then taking corrective actions. Controlling involves exercising authoritative or dominating influence over others. The control function involves (1) establishing benchmarks or standards, (2) comparing actual performance against standards, and (3) if needed, taking corrective action.
